Wildside Adventures: Ultralight Camping Stove

Sebastian from Wildside Adventures came to me with a great idea and some self-made prototypes. The idea being to create the world’s lightest camping stove for short hiking adventures. He had a clear idea what he wanted, but needed support in refining the design, producing the manufacturing files and identifying the best manufacturing approach.

Like the best products, it is a simple design. But required some finessing to perfect. To keep costs low, I worked closely with Sebastian to develop designs that he could initially prototype himself; first in paper, then in metal. Once the design reached a critical point, the prototypes needed more accuracy, so I worked with him and various manufacturers to perfect the design.

Sebastian then launched the project on Kickstarter to raise funds and cover the costs of scaling up. It proved to be a very successful campaign, achieving 7x the pledge goal. This also attracted the attention of a big player in the camping stove marketplace.
